The Ultimate Guide to Eastbourne’s Festivals and Events

Eastbourne has a LOT of amazing events to keep things buzzing throughout the year.

Below our just a few of our favourites.

1. Eastbourne Airshow

Eastbourne International Airshow

The biggest events in Eastbourne’s calendar is the annual Airshow, which takes place this year from 17-20 August 2023. This free event attracts nearly a million visitors to the city to watch spectacular displays from some of the world’s top aviation teams, including the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The show takes place on the seafront, and if you’d like some extra comforts or a break from the crowds, you can enjoy uninterrupted views and seats that you can come and go as from as much you please by reserving at the Eatbourne bandstand, just a 150m walk from the hotel.

Even if you are not a big aviation person, the Airshow is an incredible sight.

2. Rothesay International Tennis Tournament

The Rothesay International is a prestigious event on the international tennis calendar. Held annually in June (25 June – 1 July 2023), the tournament attracts some of the biggest names in tennis to Eastbourne, making it a must-see event for any tennis fan.

The venue is a 5 minute walk from the Sheldon.

3. Beer and Cider on the Beach

A three day celebration of fermented bevvies, this sunny event features producers from across the country with over 100 different varieties to sample along with live music, street food and lots of good vibes.

It is held in May each year on the Western Lawns, just 4 blocks from the Sheldon.

4. Magnificent Motors Eastbourne

Two days of antique cars, motorcycles and other vehicles on the Western Lawns, less than a 10 minute walk from the Sheldon. One of the largest events of its kind in the UK, it is a fun weekend for the whole family and is free, usually held in April of each year.

A real blast from the past!

5. Eastbourne Bonfire Procession & Fireworks

The Eastbourne Bonfire Society Procession and Firework Display is a popular event held annually in October. The event sees a procession of bonfire societies from across the county parade through the town before a spectacular firework display lights up the sky.

While not as famous as the Bonfire Night held in neighbouring Lewes each year, which tends to be a lot more disrupive to the wee ones, the event in Eastbourne is a lot more accessible for the whole family.

A great historical celebration of light and spirited fun!

6. Eastbourne Pride

Eastbourne Pride is a celebration of the town’s LGBTQ+ community, held annually in July. The event features a parade through the town followed by a day of live music and entertainment in Princes Park.

It’s all glitter, glam and some of best live entertainment around, plus kids under 12 go free!

It’s a great way to celebrate the diversity, vibrancy and joy within our community.
